Would you rather...

Really like the place you work, but really dislike your job,

or

Really like your job, but really dislike the place you work?

Hm. Tough question. I think probably like the place you work, hate the job.

actually, i don't know.

hope you're okay.

Thanks. I will be fine, I think. Just a thought that has crossed my mind more than once recently (unfortunately). I think I would pick the first one too, but not sure. If you like the place there is always opportunity to move up or around and still get to work at the place...but if you like your job and not the place...there is opportunity to maybe learn something from it, or look at why you don't like it, and try to work toward improving that part? Could also apply to church hunting, I guess. Do you go for what the church can do for you, or what you can do for the church? But wouldn't it be ideal if there weren't such decisions? That we could go to church or to work and love it and contribute to its improvement? Sorry for speaking in such generalities. :)

Not that it's always our job to improve everything.

agreed on all accounts. :)

I would probably want to like the job, hate the place - so long as we are talking about a physical place. If, included in place, we are talking about the people one works with, that would be different. I wouldn't want to love the job but hate both the environment AND the people I work with...

I would want to enjoy what I am doing day in and day out, I think. I almost think I could deal with the place better than disliking my job.

Good question.

I have a taste of each of these at the two jobs I work, and I have to say that I defnitely prefer to like a job for a place I'm not so fond of.
