Currently Reading.

So far I really like it. I'm only on chapter 31, so I feel like I haven't even gotten to the meat of it yet. But so far, I really like it.

No idea what the book is about, but did you stop on chapter 31 because its the first 2 digits of Pi?

Be prepared for some confusing points ahead. That being said, I enjoyed that book a lot! It's very thought provoking from a missions standpoint, as well as from a reader's standpoint (later on). Let me know what you think of the end!

Also, I hear you and Steve might find yourselves in Upsala at some point this summer. Can't wait to see you both!

Anon: No, it just felt like a good place to stop. But early on, I did check to see how many pages there were for that exact reason. Not 314. (319 in this copy).

Warren, thanks for the warning. At this moment, he is on the boat with the lion, zebra, and hyena. I will let you know what I think when I finish.

And yes, we will be in Upsala this summer, and will probably pay camp a visit or three.

Ok. Overall, really enjoyed this book.

I'm still chewing on the end. Especially thee statement he makes, "so it is with God." (Or something like that). I'm not sure which story is the "true" one. I would like it to be the animal one. It is more comfortable when animals are brutal to each other, than when humans are. Perhaps his statement about God is because he is a follower of three religions...three stories, but he always refers to God as if God were apart of all three religions. In his stories, Pi is in both of them, and the point of both of the stories he tells is the same: he was a castaway who suffered much and lost his family. Yet both stories are very different (and at the same time very much the same).

Since I think it is up to the reader to decide, and I am more attached to the first story...I'm saying that I think that the first story is real, and the second one he made up as a parallel to his original to make a point to the Japanese guys.

What do you think?

Also Warren, what thoughts did you have from a missions point of view?
